Effect of Ultrasonic Nanocrystal Surface Modification Treatment at Room and High Temperatures on the High-Frequency Fatigue Behavior of Inconel 718 Fabricated by Laser Metal Deposition

In this work, the effect of ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM) treatment at room and high temperatures (RT HT) on high-frequency fatigue behavior Inconel 718 alloy fabricated by laser metal deposition (LMD) process was experimentally investigated. UNSM RT HT modified a morphology produced nanostructured layer with thickness approximately 120 140 µm, respectively. The roughness untreated sample reduced, while hardness notably increased after HT. Both increasing temperature. Fatigue samples various stress levels slightly improved This is mainly due to formation fine grained reduced porosity highly induced compressive residual stress. mechanisms were comprehensively discussed based quantitative SEM fractographic analysis.
